We asked our Beverage Director, John Bauccio, to tell us why he chose the Sloe Gin Martini as the featured cocktail of the season. Here’s what he had to say…
“Here in the U.S., most people have not tasted real sloe gin; many of us are used to an insipid and artificially colored mixer, which bears little resemblance to the real thing. Our Autumn seasonal cocktail is made with Plymouth Sloe Gin, one of the first true examples to arrive on our shores. Plymouth makes their liqueur the traditional and time honored way of steeping the incredibly tart sloe berry (actually a relative of the plum, grown on a bush called a Blackthorn) in their delicious Gin.
Our cocktail has just the right combination of the glorious Bombay Sapphire Gin and Plymouth Sloe Gin, and is then kissed with a dash of Solerno, the ethereal Sicilian blood orange liqueur.”
