Roseville’s Paul Martin’s American Bistro Received Some Great Reviews

Posted Date: February 15, 2010

Some of the recent reviews that Paul Martin’s American Bistro in Roseville has received from satisfied customers:

"Outstanding food in a chill, cozy environment. My friend and his wife wanted to bring me here for some good food. And good it was. I found the food and service to be outstanding.

We ordered an appetizer of the Town Dock Calamari ($11) and it came out to our table hot, crispy, and wonderful. I liked that the batter was light and the calamari not overcoated with it. The calamari itself were tender to the bite.

For my entree I had the St. Louis style, slow cooked all natural pork ribs ($25). I have to tell you these ribs really hit the spot after a long day. They came out tender, fall-off-the-bone, and piping hot all stacked up and coated with a terrific BBQ sauce. The roasted corn salsa and white bean summer salad were refreshing and a pleasant contrast to the buttery and meaty ribs.

After all that food, I couldn’t eat another bite. There was no dessert for me. So I’m looking forward to my next visit in order to try the other dishes and also to squeeze in dessert."

Paul Martin’s is one of my consistent favorites! It has a cool vibe, good food, tasty libations and great service. They tout a local, organic and sustainable menu so depending on the season, the menu changes. And quite favorably I might add! Always fresh and inventive, the menu reflects the variety or fresh organic food from the area.

The holiday menu includes a filet mignon and lobster tail, a filet mignon and shrimp, a seared halibut and a prime rib. I had the filet and lobster on my most recent visit and it was pleasantly surprised at the size and flavor of my lobster tail. It was supposed to be 12 oz but seriously looked way bigger! The filet was cooked perfectly which is not always an easy feat. I like my beef charred on the outside and pink, but warm in the middle. Restaurants seem to have a challenge with this, but Paul Martin’s got it right. Could have been a teensy bit more charred, but pretty darn close!

Also had the butter lettuce and blue cheese salad which was the perfect compliment to the surf and turf. Our group started out with cocktails (of course!) which were quite tasty and a butcher board of artisan salumes and local cheeses. Beware! This appetizer can be quite pricey since it’s $9.95 per person. Eight people. $80 for an appetizer. We knew this going in however and actually ordered it for four and it was just fine. Also included marinated olives that were again, quite tasty.

Mike our server was perfect in his timing and his ability to sense when to take our order, offer more drinks, clear plates, etc. We were in the mood to linger and he let us do just that!

I am a huge fan of Paul Martin’s and can’t wait for our next outing here!

Surprising find in Roseville! Didn’t know what to expect but food was excellent. Great modern menu and wine list. Ceder planked salmon was cooked perfectly. Fish tacos just switched to swordfish and that too was perfectly executed. BLT was less enjoyed as it came on a big, hard roll. Would be better with soft bread. We ate here for lunch so it was quiet but by the looks of the place, it probably rocks on a good night. We will be back to find out!
